What’s to love?

A luxurious stately Georgian country house sitting in a picturesque field of wild flowers, an outpost of the Dorchester, situated less than an hour from London. Featuring impeccably tasteful interiors, sublime service, gourmet food and a mind blowing spa.

Will I bump into any celebrities?

Perhaps. Angelina Jolie, Cheryl Cole and most recently Prince Harry have been spotted through its glamorous gates.  Unlike many British country retreats this one exudes a real sense of glamour and refinement, it’s easy to see why A listers are attracted.

Can I be pampered?

This is one country house hotel where the spa takes centre stage. Housed in a modernist building, part subterranean, with an endless array of top class treatments it is sure to keep the most ardent of spa junkie occupied. To avoid disappointment make sure you prebook.

Tip

Top treatment was the Luxury Collagen Facial – a results driven facial that plumped the skin and made it glow

Should I leave the kids at home?

Don’t be silly. The kids club has its own separate building devoted to all manner of activities the children are going to adore, giving weary parents the perfect excuse to slip away and unwind in peace.

What shall I wear?

Laid back preppy works for the day think J Crew separates, tending towards a more sophisticated yet laid back look for the evening.  Isabel Marant’s Haeza Wool Dress would set the perfect tone.

What’s the food like?

The dining options range from the more formal restaurant, in the main house, where you can enjoy classic British fare with a modern twist to my personal favourite, The Barn, a rustic outhouse serving sublime comfort food.  Do also leave room for the traditional afternoon tea enjoyed in the sumptuously furnished drawing room overlooking the magnificent grounds.

Top Tip

If you have the appetite try The Barn Burger

Will I get bored?

NO.  But should you decide to explore the surrounding area, Ascot is only a stones throw away.  With interesting shops and a few good restaurants.  The hotel also houses an Equestrian & Polo centre open for all hotel and local residents to experience the thrill of horse riding.

Will I sleep well?

Absolutely. Lap up the Georgian grandeur with a stay in the main house with its high ceilings and stately home appeal or opt instead, as we did, for a more rustic stay in one of the many quirky stables located a stones throw from the main house.
