About
Alexandra MIro
“When designing I always think of the woman; she is strong, independent and free spirited.”
Founder Alexandra Miro was born in London to art collector parents who instilled a rich passion for structure, form and colour within her from a young age. Empowered female artists in particular spoke to Alexandra, from the Japanese painter and sculptor Yayoi Kusama to the more contemporary English painter Chantal Joffe.
Travel too was synonymous in Alexandra’s childhood and young adult life. She has travelled across the globe, visiting Asia, Africa and South America and has also lived in multiple cities such as Sydney and New York. Italy remains her favourite location, its rich heritage, landscape and history constantly gives her inspiration and comfort. It’s a place she returns too often, and now, where she sources many of her luxury fabrics.
Being the founder of a luxury fashion brand was not always on the cards for Alexandra. Before launching her eponymous label she studied history and graduated with a masters degree from University College London.
Alexandra then realised that she was constantly seeking the same item of clothing whenever she was on her travels - the ultimate luxury one piece swimsuit. An item, if designed correctly, which could be bold and empower the wearer. And so the Alexandra Miro brand was born in the Spring 2017 with the ‘Lara’ one piece.
Due to its success, in 2018 Miro expanded her label to both swim and high-end resortwear.
Miro believes that swimwear is all about celebrating women, their bodies, personalities and life choices. To this end, she always designs with strong women at the fore.
